High-strength blind rivets are quenched and tempered by a salt bath furnace or a roller hearth furnace to improve their strength and hardness after being tender or hot and rolling. Heat treatment is an important process to determine the quality of high strength Blind Rivet products.

The quenching temperature is usually guaranteed at 800-9009C, and the tempering temperature is controlled at 350-6501C depending on the characteristics of the steel. If the tempering temperature is mastered, the effect on the delayed fracture strength can be reduced, and at the same time, the tensile strength of the blind rivet product can be ensured to meet the design requirements. In order to ensure the uniformity of the heat treatment, it is necessary to select a steel type in which the hardness of the middle portion is not much reduced after the heat treatment.

The dew point in the furnace must be accurately adjusted in the heat treatment. The decarburization on the surface of the heat treated product is the main factor causing the deviation of the riveting moment coefficient, and the recarburization will increase the sensitivity of the delayed fracture.
